The Real Bread Campaign

Launched in November 2008, the Real Bread Campaign’s mission is to find and share ways to make bread better for us, better for our communities and better for the planet. Its work includes the annual, international Real Bread Week and Sourdough September.

Campaign initiatives also include the Lessons in Loaf and Bake Your Lawn schemes, which have helped more than 10,000 children to learn to bake Real Bread; the Real Bread Map and Real Bread Loaf Mark scheme; and the Together We Rise initiative to increase the number of therapeutic, social and training/employment opportunities in baking for people facing a tougher time than most of us. Books include the Knead to Know microbakery handbook; the Slow Dough: Real Bread recipe book.

The Campaign’s network of paying supporters extends to more than 20 other countries and includes small-batch retail and wholesale bakers, home-based microbakers, and other people who simply have a passion for Real Bread.

Run by the food and farming charity Sustain, the Real Bread Campaign defines Real Bread as made without any artificial additives.
